Groundbreaking set for Waters Edge Park on Sept. 14
MUPHY (September 9, 2019) Murphy officials will gather once again to commemorate the start of yet another project funded by the 2018 Capital Improvement Projects bond program, as ground will be broken for the remodeling of Waters Edge Park.
The event, set for Saturday, Sept. 14 at 9 a.m., will mark the start of construction for the park, among Murphy’s most utilized play areas. The park is located at 601 Creekside Drive, adjacent to the Preserve at Maxwell Creek.
Following the official groundbreaking, construction on the park will begin, including the installation of new playground equipment designed to be all-inclusive. This means that most if not all of the amenities will accommodate those children with either special needs or limited physical abilities.
The play area’s ground will be covered with a specially-designed soft surface, layered to provide a no-abrasion fall area underneath all of the play area’s amenities.
Renovation of the park was included in the bond program that was passed by voters in November 2017. The reconstruction will take approximately nine months and is under the direction of Ratliff Hardscape Ltd., a respected park renovation and construction firm. Parking is available along Creekside Drive.
