Community Shows Out for Clear the Shelter Event

There was a large turn-out for the national Clear the Shelter event at the Murphy Animal Shelter on August 17. The shelter started the day at 9:30 AM with four cats and five dogs. By 4 PM, all of the animals were given a home with new families, clearing with an hour to spare. Some recipients called the shelter with updates on their new fluffy family members, all reporting very happy pets.

There are no pets currently at the shelter, due to the success of the event which caused faster adoption rates than normal. The Murphy Animal Shelter acquires new cuddly friends through owner surrender and finding strays, so it isn’t yet determined when more animals will be up for adoption.

Call the shelter for updates on adoption. Please contact Officer Tammy Drake at 972-468-4226 or tdrake@murphytx.org. Stop by for a visit at the Murphy Animal Shelter located at 205 N. Murphy Rd. (behind old City Hall) Monday through Friday, from 8am to 5pm.
