Murphy Chamber of Commerce Business Card Exchange Welcomes All to Attend

Clifford Gomes, Central Paint and Body, works his way through the delicious breakfast buffet provided by Jason’s Deli.

If it’s 8:00 a.m. on a Thurs., then you will find the Murphy Chamber of Commerce holding their very popular business card exchange at the Murphy Community Center (205 N. Murphy Rd.).

The weekly, hour-long networking event is generally attended by over 25 people. The gathering is comprised of business representatives who have a brick and mortar building and those who office from their homes. A variety of professional fields including dental, plumbing, insurance, automotive, legal, IT, sewing and much more enjoy a time of mingling while they eat a complimentary breakfast (non-chamber members are asked to pay $1 to attend).

Each meeting begins with an overview of Chamber events followed by an introduction of first-time attendees. All attendees are given 30 seconds to introduce themselves and describe the business in which they represent. Because of the familiarity developed between regular attendees, they have fun quoting business taglines in chorale fashion at the conclusion of the presentations. After all attendees have had their time in the spotlight, an opportunity is given to voice appreciation to one another for utilizing their business or referring others to their business.

Juli Richards, Chamber Executive Director, explained the purpose of the Murphy Chamber of Commerce Business Card Exchange as well as who can attend, “It is connecting businesses to businesses and businesses to people in the community. Anyone can attend these meetings. Besides business representatives, we’ve had people bring their resumes and people new to the community who just want to find out what is offered here.”

Attendees describe the group as friendly, welcoming and approachable. After comparing the amount of people who attend this group to other chambers’ networking events, they sound a bit like Goldilocks (of the Three Bears fame) when they say, “This one’s just right.”
