Murphy’s Tunes, Tails and Ales Festival Turns Out a Big Crowd Once Again
The Fourth Annual Murphy Tunes, Tails, and Ales Craft Beer Festival kicked off after a week of unrelenting rain. Fortunately, dry conditions on Saturday, May 4 at Murphy Central Park made memories of the deluge distant and irrelevant.
The crowd, about 1,000 people, enjoyed the festivities from 2:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. Among the attractions at this family friendly event were 20 local craft beer brewers, of course, featuring their finest brews, 650 pounds of Louisiana crawfish, two bands playing during the day and beginning at 6:30 p.m., a performance by Desperados, an Eagles tribute band, that played until 8:30 p.m. A classic car show, food trucks, and lots of games and inflatables for kids rounded out the features of the event this year.
As in the past, Brewvolution, the organizer of the event, and Murphy’s partner, contributes $1 for each ticket purchased, with a minimum contribution to the Murphy Chamber of Commerce’s Scholarship Fund of $1,000 guaranteed. Last year 1,040 people attended, which represented an increase of 10% over the prior year.
Kayla McFarland, CFEA, Special Events Coordinator for the City of Murphy, explains, “The main attraction of Tunes, Tails and Ales, is of course, the craft beer brewers on hand, but the unique and very family-friendly atmosphere has proven to be a very strong draw. The crowd has grown in each of the last four years because it offers something for every member of the family and is non-stop fun from start to finish.”
By purchasing a ticket, you are entitled to sample all of the craft beers. Those who wish to just purchase standard brands of beer can do so for $7 each. Crawfish was offered at $10 for one pound/$15 for two pounds. The food trucks on hand feature a diverse variety of foods and treats all at family-friendly prices.
A remarkably small blended team from the City of Murphy Special Events Department and Brewvolution collaborate to plan and produce this unique Murphy event each year. Thanks to Murphy’s extraordinary planning and preparation and the wonderful weather, everyone had a marvelous time once again.
