Murphy Races for Student Scholarships

Murphy Races for Student Scholarships

The community came together to attend the Murphy Half Marathon, 10K and 5K at Tom Kimbrough Stadium on May 5. Established in 2010 as a part of Murphy Maize Days, the event has been successful in raising money for local foundations and select charities. After the death of Sergeant Kyle Kucauskas in 2014, a 10K race was added to the event. The Kyle Kucauskas Educational Foundation is a non-profit raising money for students who are interested in law enforcement or criminal justice as a career.

The day began at 6 a.m. as participants received packets after registration. Plano East Senior High Color Guard was in attendance as the crowd joined in singing the national anthem followed by a short prayer. Three courses took runners throughout Murphy and parts of Parker before heading to the finish line at Tom Kimbrough Stadium. All proceeds benefit the Kyle Kucauskas Educational Foundation.
