Wylie High’s varsity baseball team played Naaman High School on Apr.18 at home. The first

inning proved challenging for the Pirates as the bases became loaded quickly with only one out.

Pitcher Luke Matula struck out the next batter before hitting a player on the first pitch. The

player walked to first, forcing third base to come home. While both teams were scoreless during

the second, the third was a game-changer for the Pirates as they brought in three runs taking the

lead at 3-1. After Wylie scored one run in the bottom of the fourth, both teams held their own

defensively throughout the rest of the game. With no additional runs coming home, the Pirates

left with a win against the Rangers at 4-1. The Pirates play South Garland at 7:30 p.m. on Apr.

26 at Wylie Baseball Field.
