Wylie Pirates Crush Lakeview Centennial 15-0
Wylie High’s JV softball team played Lakeview Centennial High School on April 5 at home. The struggle was real for the Patriot’s as they remained scoreless the entire game. Wylie brought in two runs in the first, three in the second and five in the third. Up by a staggering 10-0 going into the bottom of the fourth, the Pirates showed no mercy as Lakeview Centennial’s pitcher walked six players in one inning alone.
With zero outs, Sarah Roberge wasted no time running to third after stealing two bases. After Regan Greenley was walked, Alexis Flores hit brought Roberge home leaving runners on first and second. At 11-0, runners each stole a base before the Patriot’s coach headed to the mound to talk to both the pitcher and catcher. Natalie McDonald soon made it to first, loading the bases with no outs. The Pirates were unstoppable, bringing in four more runs, ending the game at the bottom of the fourth with 15-0.
Head JV coach Sarah Balthrop said, “The girls played their strongest defensive game of the year so far, taking care of the ball and playing error free. Offensively, we did a good job of waiting for strikes and taking advantage when we saw them. We were able to string together several hits which lead to us scoring 15 runs.” The Lady Pirates play Naaman Forest at 5 p.m. on April 12 at Wylie Softball Field.
