MMS 8th Grade Girls Take Home Second

On February 16th, the 8th grade Murphy Middle School A-team girls competed in the championship game against Frankford Middle School.

                  The Lady Mavs took the lead early on, always keeping themselves a basket or two ahead of the Falcons. Murphy ended the first period in the lead, 11-9. The Lady Mavs maintained their advantage throughout the rest of the first half, employing a dominant offense and powerful defense. By half, Murphy was ahead 21-17.

                  Frankford began their ascension to the top of the scoreboard, winning the third period, however, still behind all together. The last period proved to be a battle for the lead, with both teams constantly edging out each out in a high intensity back-and-forth game. In the end, the Mavericks lost to Frankford by only one point, 37-38. Star players of the game included Taylor Haggan with 18 points, Idara Udo with 9 points, and Tania Amos with 6 points.

                  The A-Team Lady Mavs had an impressive record over the past season. With both the 8th and 7th grade teams impressively coming out in second place.
