Punkin’ Chunkin’, Paintin’, Pullin’ and Picturin’
Murphy Chamber of Commerce Scholarship Foundation Increased Activities and Donation Opportunities
Can you believe that Murphy’s Maize Days on Saturday, 9/29/2018 is the 10th anniversary of our city festival? The Murphy Chamber of Commerce Scholarship Foundation has participated in some way each year, and this year marks our 7th offering Punkin’ Chunkin’! The event has evolved over the years to become the primary fundraiser for the Scholarship Foundation!
Dunkin’ Donuts has agreed to be Title Sponsor for the 4th consecutive year…ever since they opened their Murphy store, they have supported this event. That’s why we like to call it Punkin’ Chunkin’ with Dunkin’. In addition to their sponsorship, Dunkin’ will also have a booth just adjacent to the slingshot, loaded with free samples and goodies. We hope you will support Dunkin’ like they support us!
This year, The Scholarship Foundation’s Punkin’ Place will again feature Punkin’ Paintin’ and Punkin’ Pullin’ as supplements to Punkin’ Chunkin’. We are thrilled that Asja Randell of Pinot’s Pallette and Lisa Salinas of First Baptist Church of Murphy will again partner with the Foundation and head up those efforts. New this year will be Punkin’ Pics, sponsored by Farmers Insurance Carolyn Weeks Agency. The plan is to provide a cool Punkin’ Patch photo op and accept donations for the use thereof.
The Scholarship Foundation raises money by selling sponsorships to local businesses and groups, and these funds along with the day’s take from our games represents the money that we pay out in Scholarships and Teacher Grants. Sponsors committed for 2018 are Allstate/ Zane Shepherd, Jack in the Box, State Farm/Jon Lashbrook, Glazer Family Dentistry, Municipal Voice, The Aviary HOA, Dault Financial, Marco’s Pizza, Maxwell Creek HOA, Canes, Farmer’s Electric, Cornerstone Church and Keller Williams-Mary Pat Team. If you are interested in supporting this terrific endeavor, please contact Chamber Executive Director Juli Richards at 972-805-3749.
We invite you to come out to Murphy’s Central Park on Saturday, 9/29 for Maize Days 10! While there, stop by Punkin’ Place back by the pond. Spend a few bucks and support the Scholarship Foundation as we support Murphy’s youth and encourage education past their high school graduation.
