WHS Color Guard Prepares for Upcoming Season
As the 2018 – 2019 school year quickly approaches, members of Wylie High School’s color
guard team are busily preparing for the upcoming season. The team consists of 29 members, all
of whom attended Color Guard Camp from July 23 – 27, as well as two additional camps with
brass, woodwinds and percussion.
“This is the point in our season where we are training and getting a lot of our technical
foundations out of the way before we start learning choreography for this season,” explained
WHS Color Guard Director Walter Jackson. “This is also a point where the color guard and the
drumline do our own thing separately, then next week the whole band gets together to start
preparing for the fall season.”
Fall is going to be packed with back-to-school fun beginning Aug. 16. That Wylie Band will
continue rehearsing for future football games and competitions scheduled throughout the school
year. WHS football season kicks off Aug. 31 at 7:30 p.m. when the Pirates take on Prestonwood
Baptist at home.
