PESH Hosts Specialized 3-on-3 Camp
Of the many basketball camps available to Murphy residents this summer, our local senior high hosted several, for both boys and girls, at a variety of skill levels. During the first week of August, Plano East Senior High hosted a specialized camp specifically designed to focus on skills needed for 3-on-3 basketball tournament play. This summer's camp was open to third through eighth graders and split the training between elementary and middle school ages.
Over 40 campers were in attendance led by staff and assistants from the PESH men’s basketball program. Camper's afternoons were spent in the facilities at McMillen High School where most of the students would eventually be attending before going on to PESH. Derrick Richardson, new varsity assistant coach this year for PESH, came in from the Plano West program and led the 3-on-3 week of camp. "We scrimmage and drill specifically for three person situations and then end the week with a 3-on-3 tournament for the campers," said Richardson.
While open to boys from anywhere, the majority of those in attendance were from Murphy and able to take the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the facility and staff they would interact with a few short years from now.
