Theatre Students End Year With Play At Murphy MS
First period students in director Candace Norris' theater class at Murphy MS presented "All I Really Need To Know I Learned By Being In A Bad Play" by Werner Trieschmann on May 22nd at MMS. This was Mrs. Norris' 10th production at MMS and the second year she has led the students in producing a play by rehearsing during the school day. She stated it has "been one of the best decisions I've ever made." Rehearsing during their school day in theater class "allows students that might not normally be able to participate due to other commitments a chance to participate in the production and additionally gives students a chance to try different aspects of theater such as costume, tech, marketing, etc" according to Norris. The students collaborated on the script and created all costumes, props, lighting design and sound. The students hard work and passion for theater was in full display as they brought together this hilarious play that highlighted the nuances and humor involved in producing a play. When talking about the group Norris said "Starting out each day with this group of young actors was the highlight of my day and their fearlessness of being goofy amazes me... we had an awesome time working on this show."
