Cooper Patriots Break School Record
Cooper Junior High athletes competed in the Wylie East Junior High Cannonball Run track and field meet at Wylie Stadium on March 22. Other schools participating in the event were McMillan, Burnett, Ereckson, Williams and Royse City. Field events included long, triple and high jump, along with shot put, discus and pole vault. Athletes also participated in hurdles, relays and additional races with a wide range of distances. Cooper JH girls’ head coach, Melinda Keen, proudly stated, “The girls, both seventh and eighth, finished third last night in the meet. Chioma Obi took first place in seventh girls high jump and the eighth grade girls 4x200 set a school record with a time of 1:53.11.” The Patriots will travel to Rockwall Wilkerson Sanders Memorial Stadium for their next meet on April 5 at 4 p.m.
