PESH Varsity Hockey Season Ends In Round One Of Playoffs

The Plano East Varsity Hockey team entered the playoffs as the third seed and on a two-game winning streak against the Marauders from Flower Mound Marcus. Once the puck dropped Marcus controlled play in the Panthers zone netting a goal 1:29 into the game. The Marauders collected their second goal,which was the eventual game winner, with 4:46 remaining in the second period. The Panthers responded with their first goal when senior Robert Woertink buried the puck in the net with 1:28 remaining in the second period. The Panthers ended the second period outshooting the Marauders and with momentum on their side but were unable to capitalize on that momentum in the third period. With 10:23 remaining in the third period Marcus netted their third goal of the game. The Panthers pushed and grinded their way through the third period with 13 shots on goal, the highest period total for either team. Marcus ended the Varsity Panthers season after adding it’s forth goal, an empty netter, with 1:18 remaining. The Panthers out-shot Flower Mound 37 to 24 but were unable to convert the chances into goals and their season ended with a 4-1 loss.
