Plano East Wrestling Sets Simple Goals For Season
The Plano East JV and Varsity wrestling season is off to a great start sporting a 3-3 record in duels and includes a successful showing in the RL Turner tournament. When asked about the goals for the season head coach Bryan Kenney stated “The goals are simple, re-build and honor the program.” Plano East has a history of success the current team strives to honor and those past accomplishments of the program were on display as part of the duals match against Lovejoy. In-between the JV and Varstiy dual vs Lovejoy, former PESH players and coaches Al Koebke, Clay Goodloe, Sean Kitchen and Jack Kitchen were inducted into the newly established Plano East Wrestling Hall of Fame.
Against Lovejoy the Plano East varsity team dropped a close match in a dual that came down to the last match, but rebounded the following weekend with a strong performance in the RL Turner Tournament. In the RL Turner tournament the varsity team took 9th place in a field of 37 teams and the JV team placed 14th. A few highlights from the tournament include: Freshman Rowdy Keith making the finals and placing second with three pins, Senior Keshon Hollis placing second, Senior team captain Sam Uwabuike placing fourth and Keshon Hollis pinning the Lousiana’s returning state placer.
