In an exciting Homecoming game, the McMillen Sophomores played against Williams High School in their last game of the season. The Lions had a powerful offense going into the game, gaining a touchdown in the first quarter. The Lions held off Williams throughout the rest of the half, giving them a 7-0 lead as halftime began. McMillen picked up two more touchdowns throughout the second half, allowing them to defeat Williams in a 20-0 game.
The Lions ended the season with an impressive 9-1 record. In their 2017 season, the current Sophomores were City Champions, putting a target on their back for this 2018 season. “This group was committed and responded very well to adversity, which helped them overcome a few close games,” Head Coach Damaso Martinez said on how the group performed this season. With two City Championship, the 2018-19 Sophomores become the first in McMillen history to gain the back-to-back titles. “Our goal is to instill character, discipline, and commitment. If we can achieve those goals, we are winners, regardless of the scoreboard,” Coach Martinez finished.
The McMillen football program is excited to see where these sophomores will go in the rest of the school year, and onwards at Plano East.
