Golden Girls Shine through Crazy Fall Weather
The Golden Girls season got off to a normal start on August 31st as they performed at halftime of the opening game for the Panthers, but after that game the unusual fall weather became a major factor for the drill team. Starting with the Sept 8th game at the Cotton Bowl, where the Golden Girls performed in ponchos and sang the fight song for their routine, the rain has been a factor in every performance except one. Senior Katelynn Waters (1st Lieutenant) described the season as "frustrating" due to the missed performances but went on to say the experience has been "uplifting because we have bonded as a group through the experience." The Golden Girls have performed several times in less than ideal conditions this season, even when the opposing spirit teams have decided to leave the game early. Their willingness to stay and cheer on their team shows the true character of the group. You can watch the Golden Girls perform at Tom Kimbrough one last time this season on November 9th at the halftime of the game vs Jesuit (7:00pm game time).
