MHS Pink Out Game Raises Cancer Awareness

MHS Pink Out Game Raises Cancer Awareness

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the McMillen Lions hosted a Pink Out volleyball game against Shepton High School on Friday, Oct. 19. Pink streamers and balloons, along with inspirational posters filled the gym as players and fans arrived. Each player donated pink treats such as cookies, cupcakes and candy to be sold during each game. Over $300 was raised with all proceeds benefiting the Side-Out Foundation.

After A team’s tough loss to Shepton High in both sets, the ninth and tenth grade teams came together to honor loved ones who are fighting cancer, are cancer survivors or have lost their lives to the deadly disease. Principal Brian Lyons briefly spoke to attendees, before honorees were presented with pink roses by MHS players. B team’s Lady Lions fought hard, but ultimately fell short, losing both sets to the Shepton Stallions. Tenth grade went to three sets, winning the first, then losing the second and third sets to Jasper High School.
