The 2018 Maize Days Fundraiser, Punkin’ Chunkin’ with Dunkin’, set a record for the Murphy Chamber of Commerce Scholarship Foundation (MCOCSF)…we fired off 373 punkins!
Murphy Parks and Recreation coordinates the Murphy city festival, Maize Days on the last Saturday of September each year. This year marked the 10th year of Maize Days, and the weather improved all day! MCOCSF and the City of Murphy have a terrific relationship, and it shines at Maize Days. The city and parks and rec are so generous and supportive of the foundation’s effort as we try to raise funds to turn around and flow back into scholarships for Murphy kids and grants for outstanding Murphy teachers!
Punkin’ Place is the MCOCSF’s collaborative effort to offer Punkin’ Chunkin’, Punkin’ Paintin’, Punkin’ Pullin’ and Punkin’ Pix as a multi-prong fundraising event. Pinot’s Pallete partnered with us to offer Punkin’ Paintin’ for the 2nd year. First Baptist Church Murphy offered Punkin’ Pullin’ for the 3rd consecutive festival. Punkin’ Pix was Carolyn Weeks Farmers Insurance offering of a fall themed photo op including a pumpkin filled pickup truck photo cut out for attendees. The Maize Days event raised enough money to fund three scholarships and almost two full teacher grants with the Sept. 29 fundraising effort! The Foundation wants to offer special appreciation to our event partners!
Dunkin’ Donuts was Title Sponsor of Punkin’ Chunkin’ for the 4th consecutive festival! In addition to their financial contribution, they set up adjacent to Punkin’ Place and offered up free snacks and pumpkin flavored drinks. Target sponsors for the event were Allstate-Zane Shepherd, Jack in the Box, State Farm-Jon Lashbrook. Keller Williams—Mary Pat’s Team, Dault Financial, Amegy Bank, Popcorn is Bliss, Cornerstone Church Murphy, Aviary HOA, Raising Canes, Maxwell Creek HOA, Municipal Voice, Glazer Family Dentistry, Farmers Electric Coop, Boomer Jack’s, Marco’s Pizza and Farmers Insurance-Carolyn Weeks. Thanks to our sponsors, one and all. And thanks also to the chamber members who gave up their Saturday and so much more to further our great cause and support education! As always, we say how blessed we are to live and do business in such a terrific community. Thank you
