Frisco Lone Star Defeats Wylie Pirates JV 2-1

Wylie High’s JV boys met Frisco Lone Star on Jan. 12 to compete in Wylie ISD Men’s Soccer Showcase. There were several tournament changes due to weather conditions, along with a shortage of referees. Wylie’s attempts to make a goal were all denied as the Rangers went on to score in the first half. The struggle continued after a foul was called against Wylie. The referee explained his decision for awarding a penalty kick to Lone Star stating, “In the first half I spoke to the player about two or three times. The second half I talked to him again about grabbing players and wrapping his arms around them.” Wylie finally scored with under two minutes remaining on the clock, leaving with a 2-1 loss to Lone Star. Pirates JV boys go up against Plano East at 5:45 p.m. on Jan. 23 at Wylie Stadium.
