May 11 - High Tea & Fashion Show – sponsored by the Murphy Historical Society, 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Orchard Park Assisted Living and Memory Care, 304 West FM 544. This event will benefit the preservation of two Murphy Cemeteries. Tickets are $15. Tea, coffee, scones, truffles, finger sandwiches, and various desserts will be the bill of fare. Come and enjoy music, entertainment, and a unique style show. A 32 inch color, flat-screen television and other items will be raffled during the event. May 13 & 28– Exchange Club of Murphy meets the second and fourth Monday of each month at noon at Country Burger in Murphy Marketplace. May 16 - Sit, Sip and Stitch Group meets the third Thursday of each month at 11 a.m. the Murphy Starbucks, corner of FM 544 and Murphy Road. May 21 – Murphy Chamber of Commerce monthly luncheon meeting - join us at 11:30 a.m. at the Murphy Activity Center, 201 North Murphy Road (across the street from City Hall, and next to the renovated Murphy School). Janet White, president of JW Speakers Agency, will be the guest speaker.
May 25 – Cemetery Association of Murphy, Inc. – meets on the fourth Saturday of each month at 10:30 a.m. at the Murphy Community Center. This organization is dedicated to the preservation and restoration of the Decatur-Maxwell-Murphy Cemetery, the largest historical cemetery in Murphy. Everyone is welcome to attend!
May 30 - Neighborhood Crime Watch Program – All meeting are conducted at the Murphy Police Dept. Training Room, located at 206 N. Murphy Road. The meetings are held on the last Thursday of each month at 7 p.m.
May 31 – PESH Panther 2013 Spring Showcase – Kimbrough Stadium, 4 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Thursdays - Murphy Chamber Business Card Exchange meets 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. every Thursday at Sunny Street Café on FM 544 in Murphy Marketplace. Open to Chamber members and non-members.
MOMS Club of Murphy/Sachse - An international non-profit support group for mothers who stay at home with their children. Join us for park days, playgroups, field trips, MOMS Night Out, our general meeting with guest speakers, and more each month. May 4 – Asia Fest – Asian American Heritage Festival, Haggard Park, downtown Plano. 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Free event.
May 13 - Children's Chorus of Collin County - The concert is entitled, 'Music That Matters'…Songs of the Elements. The concert will be in the auditorium of Custer Road United Methodist, 6601 Custer Road, Plano. The concert begins at 7pm with doors opening at 6:30pm. Tickets may be purchased at the door for $10 for adults and $5 for Seniors and Children.
May 22 – Senior Wellness & Information Fair - Plano Senior Recreation Center, 401 West 16th Street, Plano, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Attendance is free and everyone is welcome to come. Free health screenings, door prizes and much, much more. No registration necessary.

May 4 & 5 – Cottonwood Art Festival - Cottonwood Park is located at 1321 W. Belt Line Road, one block east of Coit Road in Richardson, TX. Saturday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Sunday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.. Parking and admission are free. The artists’ works are available for purchase, as are food and beverages, and some children’s events require a fee. Over 240 selected artists will exhibit their museum-quality work and they compete in 14 categories: 2D Mixed Media, 3D Mixed Media, Ceramics, Digital, Drawings/Pastels, Fiber, Glass, Jewelry, Leather, Metalwork, Painting, Photography, Sculpture and Wood. The festival also features top local bands performing the best in rock, country, jazz, blues, swing and folk.

Tickets will be sold at the door for $5 for an individual and $20 for a family.
