» No Memorial Day Observance This Year at the Decatur-Maxwell-Murphy Cemetery

The Cemetery Association of Murphy, Inc.  regrettably will not host their annual Memorial Day Observance this year at the Decatur-Maxwell-Murphy Cemetery.  The on-going construction in the immediate cemetery area i.e. the new Central Park and the removal of the drive-across bridge over Maxwell Creek has caused the Association to reconsider their Memorial Day Observance for 2013.

Pancake Breakfast to benefit Girl Scout Service Unit 151

At FUMC Sachse, 1520 Blackburn Road

Saturday, May 11, 8 to 10:30 a.m.

$5 per person; $20 per family

 On Mother’s Day weekend, come enjoy hot off the griddle pancakes with your family! Pancakes are served with syrup, butter, coffee, tea, juice and fruit. Gluten-free/Egg-free pancakes are available.

 Girl Scout Service Unit 151 provides support for over 500 Girl Scouts located in the greater Murphy area. Each year the Service Unit hosts over 20 Girl Scout activities and events in the Murphy area.

» God’s Food Pantry in Immediate Need of Financial Assistance

God's Food Pantry is a faith-based, not-for-profit, 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization that has been established since 1997. It has matured into a 'real' community outreach food pantry located in East Plano.

God's Food Pantry’s van was recently totaled in an auto accident, of which their insurance only covered $5,800 of the loss. That amount does not cover what is needed to purchase another vehicle suitable for doing large pickups of food for the needy.

Windy Hill Farms (WHF) HOA board of directors describes their neighborhood as “…a wholesome, family community. We take pride in the appearance, activities and amenities that we provide our residents…” graffiti which began appearing in Windy Hill Farms in July 2012 causes the board members to say, “…we are saddened when any person commits any criminal acts to the detriment of our community. We hope that this person will learn from their mistakes and not have it escalate into worse situations.”
