» Bulky Trash Pick Up October 15
By City of Murphy | Published 10/7/2009 | Around Town | Unrated

Bulky trash pickup is on Thursday, October 15th.   Pick up will begin very early on that day, so you will need to have all items out by your curb the night before your scheduled pick up date.  This will ensure that your items will not be missed.

Waste Management has set the following guidelines:

• Appliances including refrigerators will be picked up. Any item that contains Freon must have the Freon removed by a licensed air conditioner technician. They will provide you with a receipt and that receipt must be taped on the item in order for it to be removed. Doors must be removed in such a way that neither children nor animals can enter the refrigerator and inadvertently close themselves in the unit.

• All riding lawn mowers and other motorized yard tools must have all gasoline and oil removed.

• Brush must be cut into 4 foot long pieces and no larger than 6 inches in diameter and stacked neatly by the curb. The pile should be no larger than 4 foot long and no taller than 3 foot high. Piles of brush must be separated from other trash because it goes to a separate facility.

• Pieces of metal placed by the curb must be able to fit into the trash truck. The pieces must be no longer than 6 feet long.

• Paint cans still containing wet paint will not be picked up. However, if leftover paint is allowed to dry solid in the can, it is considered solid waste and therefore can be picked up.

If you have any questions regarding other items to be picked up please visit our website at murphytx.org or call the Customer Service Center at 972-468-4100.
