On Saturday, May 30, 2009 at the Decatur/Maxwell Murphy Cemetery off Tom Clevenger Road in Murphy, TX,  between 10:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m., there will be a ceremonial firing of rifles for a 21-gun salute and a ceremonial firing of a cannon.  Live  rounds are not used, only gun powder.  These blank charges do make noise which can travel several miles.

These ceremonial firings will take place during the Memorial Day Observance hosted by the Cemetery Association of Murphy, Inc.
