Murphy, TX - On 11-12-2008, at about 11:08 p.m., officers of the Murphy Police Department responded to the 400 Block of E. FM 544 in reference to a Hit and Run involving a pedestrian that was struck by a motor vehicle and later pronounced deceased by the Collin County Medical Examiner’s Office at the scene.
A motorist reported to the Murphy Police department that a black female was walking, westbound in the eastbound lane of the roadway at the 400 Block of E. FM 544 when she was struck by a vehicle. The operator of this vehicle did stop at the scene and awaited the arrival of police officers. The victim was then struck by another vehicle and that vehicle fled the scene without stopping and rendering aid to the victim.
Shortly thereafter, the suspect vehicle was stopped in the city limits of Wylie, Texas by the Wylie Police Department. Two suspects were identified and questioned about the incident. Statements were taken from several witnesses to the accident.
The victim was not identified at the time and the body has been released to the Collin County Medical Examiner’s Office for further investigation. The ME’s was able to establish identity, however, notification of next of kin is pending.
Upon completion of the investigation, the case will be referred to the Collin County District Attorney’s Office for further action.
