Murphy Tx – The City of Murphy will be deactivating its Emergency Operation Center at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 13th. The city is releasing some of the additional crews; yet, we will continue to be ready to respond to any anticipated emergencies that may occur as a result of Hurricane Ike.

According to the National Weather Service and the National Hurricane Center, Hurricane Ike will pass east of our county.? The anticipated weather for our area will be periods of heavy rain totaling 1.5”-3” throughout the day.? These heavy rains may be accompanied by strong gusty winds from the northeast.? Please contact the city’s non-emergency number 972/468-4236 if you need any assistance or have concerns.

Please continue to secure all loose items, i.e. lawn furniture, garbage cans, toys, bicycles tonight. Please be cautious when going outside after the storms as there may be down power lines and broken tree limbs that are lying across lawns.
