A nine-year old gymnast from Murphy is the Level 5 North State gymnastics champion, not once but three times. Jordan Williams earned her titles at the competition held in Mesquite December 1.
Jordan, a third grader at Boggess Elementary, was entered in the Junior B Gold division after winning second place all-around at the District Championships a month ago. Her first event at North State was vault where she scored a 9.475 for third place.
Next, on uneven bars, her favorite event, she scored a 9.8, easily taking
the gold. The third rotation put her on the balance beam, where she earned a bronze medal with a score of 9.675. Finally, she went to the floor exercise, where she nailed her routine for a 9.75 and first place.
Jordan was crowned all-around champion with 38.7 points out of a possible 40. Her mom, Chris, says, “She never fails to amaze us with her ability to conquer anything she puts her mind to. We are very proud of her accomplishment and her dedication to the sport of gymnastics."
