Murphy Messenger uses a variety of guest and staff writers that contribute greatly to our publication. Classic Gardens & Landscape and the Murphy Messenger will once again host a Pumpkin Decorating and Costume Contest with tours through the Haunted Greenhouses. This year’s event will be on Saturday, October 27th, 10 a.m. until 12 noon at Classic Gardens on FM 544 in Murphy next to Hobert Pools.
Don Tafelski, Classic Gardens owner, has ordered a large quantity of pumpkins for this year’s event. You may buy your pumpkin in advance and save your receipt, or you may purchase your pumpkin the day of the decorating contest. Please bring your own carving and decorating supplies/materials with you on the 27th. Tables will be set up by 10 a.m. when carvers and decorators may begin demonstrating their creativity.
Shelly Ferrell, Classic Gardens employee, is excited about the haunted greenhouses and is planning a few new surprises that visitors will find lurking among the plants and shrubs beginning at 11 a.m.! While the parade of costumes moves through the greenhouses, judges will be choosing winners by age group.
Sonic Drive-In and Albertson’s will once again be an important part of the fun and excitement. There will be prizes and free candy, too.
Plan to bring the family and join in the fun. The greenhouses are not super scary and of course the tours are done in daylight surroundings.
