Murphy Messenger uses a variety of guest and staff writers that contribute greatly to our publication.
Three members from the Messenger’s Reader Advisory Board, Jon Lashbrook, Keith Fenstermacher and “Gunny” Hartman met on Saturday, September 8th at the Murphy UPS Store, where store owner Jason Duke has been displaying photo entries since May.
A special thanks to Jason and his wife, Kristina, who put her creative
touches on the entry labeling.
The Messenger traveled to so many exciting places this year – doubling the number of entries from 2006. We thank everyone who sent us a photo. Your entries were a fun addition to our summer issues!
Cash prizes were presented to the winners on September 12th.
Farthest Distance: Samuel Stout traveled 9786 miles to visit Sentosa Island off the coast of Singapore.
Honorable Mention: Florence Abubaker traveled to Petra Jordan and took this picture of her son with some very photogenic camels.
Most Unique Setting: Elizabeth McCormick holds a Longaberger basket in front of the Longaberger headquarters basket building in Newark, Ohio.
Funniest Setting: Mary Ellen Hartman visited New York City and found a new Messenger reader! Not pictured is Mary Ellen Hartman; Jason Duke holds her winning entry.
