East vs West for Varsity Silver City hockey title
After going 22-1-1 in the regular season, including a 3-0 win over Plano West on March 20th, Plano East marauded through the playoffs with wins over #16 Keller (7-0), #13 Arlington Wild (6-0), and #5 De Soto Grand Prairie (7-2).  East will take on Plano West, a team that finished just two points behind East in the regular season, posting a 20-1-3 record.  West has won three consecutive games to get to this point.  West opened with a 7-3 victory over #15 Bishop Lynch, then blanked #11 HEB 3-0, and beat #3 Arlington Martin 3-1 last night.  West is led by Garrett Cotroneo who has 4 goals in 3 playoff games.  West forward Grant Willis leads his team with 4 assists.  Cotroneo and Willis each have 4 points in the playoffs.  East's leading scorers in the playoffs are Zack Patteson with 4 goals, Forest Mudgett with 6 assists, and Patteson with 9 points.  West has been alternating goaltenders with Drew Case playing 2 games with a 2.00 GAA and a save percentage of 90.  Stephen Bayer has played one game with a 0.00 GAA and save percentage of 100.  Taylor Stobaugh has been in the pipes for all three of East's games.  Stobaugh opened the playoff with 84 minutes and 49 seconds of shutout hockey stopping 32 shots in that stretch.  Stobaugh shut out West when the teams met in the regular season on March 20th.  With great goaltending on both sides, it's a safe bet that goals will be at a premium tonight.

Look for an intense contest tonight as the two top teams in the Varsity Silver section square off for the City Championship.  The puck drops at 8:30.  If you've recovered from the Stars 138 minute game, come on out and cheer on the Panthers.  Non-student tickets are $5.00.
