Maize days vendors needed
MURPHY (June 4, 2012) Less than four months away, the area’s premier family fun festival is now accepting applications for market and food vendors, and while the festival is expected to attract up to 10,000 attendees, the space for vendors is limited, according to Recreation Supervisor Caitlyn Meehan.

“Market-style vendors who exhibit and sell handcrafted items, art objects, jewelry and other items will be limited to the first 70 applicants. Food vendors are also being sought. An exciting addition to our food selection will be some interesting and flavorful food options offered by some new food trucks from around the area,” she said.

The Maize Days festival is set for Saturday, Sept. 29 starting with the A-Maize-ing 5K and Fun Run at 8 a.m. and ending with the area’s most elaborate laser light show coordinated to music. The actual festival starts at 10 a.m. and closes at 8:15 p.m. on the grounds of the Murphy Municipal Complex, 206 North Murphy Road.

“The excitement is already building as we anticipate our largest crowd ever. And, of course, there will be something for every member of the family,” added Meehan.

Food vendors are expected to span the ethnic landscape with treats from throughout the world. Thirst will be quenched with plenty of drink options. Special, one-of-a-kind arts and craft items will be offered for sale, a multi-acre Kidz Zone with bounce houses, zip lines, climbing walls, pony rides, a game truck and other attractions will keep the youngsters entertained and live entertainment on two separate stages will offer continuous music from a wide array of genres.

Both food and market vendors can submit applications via the Maize Days web site www.murphymaizedays.com with set-up scheduled for Friday, Sept. 28 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday, Sept. 29 from 6:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. Food vendors are expected to remain open throughout the entire festival.

“Spaces for vendors will be limited so applying early is highly advised,” concluded Meehan. For more information visit the Maize Days web site www.murphymaizedays.com.
