Donations set to help local Children’s Advocacy Center
MURPHY (June 27, 2011) In anticipation of the annual Back to School Fair put on by the Children’s Advocacy Center of Collin County, the City of Murphy is once again serving as a collection point for all manner of new school supplies, according to Human Resources Manager Stacy Buckley.
“We’re accepting donations from individuals, groups, businesses, social service organizations, community agencies, employee groups or any charitable organization wishing to help with this important project,” she said.
The Children’s Advocacy Center of Collin County assists children and their families during particularly difficult and traumatic events, including abuse and abandonment.
“These children are already at a disadvantage because of their unstable home life, so we want to help by removing the worry over school supplies and other basic necessities,” she said.
Collection boxes are located at both City Hall’s main entryway and the lobby of the Fire Department, both in the Municipal Complex, 206 North Murphy Road. The boxes will remain in place until July 22.
The City has been participating as a collection point for the last three years. More information can be obtained by calling 972-468-4018.
