The Cemetery Association of Murphy, Inc. will host the annual Memorial Day Observance at the historic Decatur-Maxwell-Murphy Cementery on Saturday, May 28.  Tour guides will be stationed throughout the cemetery to present the military histories of twelve known Civil War veterans, one WWI veteran, and one Black Hawk War veteran.  Tours begin at 9:30 a.m.

The W.H.L. Wells Sons of Confederate Veterans reenacting unit will pay tribute to the veterans with a military roll call and 21-gun salute. They will also assist the Order of the Black Rose, as the ladies place roses on all of the veterans’ graves. The program begins at 10 a.m.
Complementary water and bathroom will be available. Please bring a lawn chair.
