Domestic disturbance call results in Barricaded Subject
Wylie, TX, March 16, 2011 – (Updated information) On Wednesday March 9, 2011 at approximately 10:00 P.M., Wylie Police Department was dispatched to the 2800 block of Sutters Mill Way in reference to a domestic disturbance call. When Wylie officers arrived on scene they were advised by the reporting party that the suspect, Charles Gregory McKinley, is a police officer with Hutchins Police Department. Officers were advised that McKinley made statements to the victim indicating he may be suicidal and that there were weapons in the house. Attempts to contact McKinley were unsuccessful. Due to the mention of weapons and suicidal statements Wylie SWAT and Negotiator teams were activated. Continued attempts to make contact with McKinley were unsuccessful. Keys for residence were obtained and used to make entry into the residence. Charles McKinley was found unconscious but breathing by the Wylie SWAT team. He was transported to the hospital by EMS for a possible overdose. McKinley was released from the hospital on Monday, March 14, 2011 and taken into custody and transported to the Collin County Detention Facility by warrant for Assault-Family Violence-Impede Breath or Circulation. This charge is a third degree Felony; bond is set at $200,000.00.
