Plan Ahead. Stay Safe.

PLANO (February 13, 2011) If a disaster struck, would you and your family be prepared? Would you know where to go, what to do, or how to get help? The Plano Preparedness Fair is designed to learn how to plan ahead and stay safe in the event of a disaster, no matter how large or
small.

The Plano Preparedness Fair begins at 10:00 am and goes until 3:00 pm on Saturday, February 26, 2011 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-daySaints on 2700 Roundrock Trail.

Experts in emergency and family preparedness will have classes, displays,
and live demonstrations on everything from food and water storage to home and personal safety to wills and estate planning. The City of Plano
Department of Emergency Management will have a booth, and a Carter
Blood Drive van will be in the parking lot for those wishing to donate blood.

“Not all emergencies are natural disasters. A loss of job, a home fire or an
unexpected illness or death in the family can constitute an emergency. Our
goal is to give people the information and knowledge to prepare themselves ahead of time so they can cope with any size disaster, “ said Kenneth Hudson, coordinator of the event.

The fair will also cover topics such as 72-hour kits, automobile emergency
kits, identity theft, financial preparedness, ham radio communications, fire
safety and much more. The Plano Preparedness Fair is free to the public and everyone is invited. For more details, go to www.preparednessplano.org
