Water supply remains safe for drinking, cooking
MURPHY (January 10, 2011) The North Texas Municipal Water District, official supplier of potable water for residents of the City of Murphy, reminds customers that it’s that time of year when the taste and scent of water delivered to homes and businesses may change due to the yearly algal bloom, according to Candy McQuiston, Customer Service Manager.
“The water district laboratory has seen an increase in the algal counts since the end of December,” she said.
“The increase in algal counts is often accompanied by calls inquiring about the change in taste and odor. Residents should be assured that these changes in the water are a palatability issue, not a safety or quality issue,” she added.
Water provided by the NTMWD remains safe for all uses, including drinking, cooking, washing and watering. To learn more about this issue, residents are encouraged to visit the NTMWD web sites:
