Concepts for park at Municipal Complex to be shared

Town Hall Meeting scheduled to obtain public comment

MURPHY (November 23, 2010) A pair of conceptual treatments for what City planners are calling Murphy’s signature park will be revealed during a Town Hall Meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 14 in the Council hambers, 206 North Murphy Road, starting at 6 p.m., according to Kim Lenoir, Community Services Manager. The public is invited to attend the meeting
and share their impressions of the two concepts with the members of the Parks and Recreation Board.

The Parks Board, sponsors of the Town Hall Meeting, will then call their monthly meeting to order at the conclusion of the public comment portion of the evening. In January, the City of Murphy received a $500,000 grant to develop the park at the Municipal Complex. The City then contracted with landscape architects Dunkin Sims Stoffels to design the concept plans that will be the focus of the Town Hall Meeting.

“The park project will be the largest city park, centrally located, and will connect to the Maxwell Creek Trail system. Amenities for the park include the first city spray ground, lacrosse/soccer game fields, a pavilion, a large
amphitheater, restrooms, playground, and trails,” said Lenoir. The City Council will be reviewing the design concepts Tuesday, Jan. 4 at 6 p.m.
