Fireworks Prohibited
By City of Murphy | Published  06/29/2010 | Around Town | Unrated

Murphy TX – City of Murphy: 4th of July Fireworks: It is that time of year when families and friends gather to celebrate our Country’s Independence. With this celebration, shooting fireworks has become synonymous with this day. However, in the City of Murphy, as is true with most incorporated cities, the possession, selling, transportation, manufacture and/or shooting of fireworks in the city limits of Murphy is prohibited by city ordinance sec.34-41 through 34-44.

Police officers of the MPD will be out in-force to enforce this ordinance. Fireworks and high density housing, such as we have in Murphy, are not a good mix.

Violators will be prosecuted and could face a significant fine. Plus, all fireworks are considered contraband in the city limits and will be confiscated.

City of Murphy and the Murphy Police Department wishes everyone a safe, happy and joyous 4th of July.
