Corn Spitting Contest:
Contest is open to all ages in the following age groups: under 8, ages 9‐12, ages 13‐16, ages 17‐adults.
The object of the contest is to “spit” a kernel as far as possible. Contestants will select one kernel provided by Maize Days representative.
Only one try is allowed per contestant. The contestant spitting the kernel the greatest distance is the winner. All measurements will be made from a marked point on the foul line. Any contestant who crosses the foul line will be disqualified. The kernel must land in front of the foul line to qualify for measurement. Contestants must compete unassisted. Contestants may not chew gum while competing. In the event of a tie, a “spit‐off” will be held.
Judges decision will be final.
Corny Joke Contest:
No registration or entry forms for the Corny Joke contest. It will be an on‐the‐spot contest hosted on the main stage with the DJ –only rule is appropriate for all ages.

Chili & Cornbread Cook off (Not a public contest):
The Chili/Cornbread Cook‐off is only a contest between City departments –it is not an open contest this year –maybe next year. Official judging by Murphy Community Events Committee at 7 p.m. –People’s Choice announced at 8 p.m. –after official judging, people can enter their votes at each Chili booth for people’s choice.
